My name is Nathan Adamson and I was born and raised in East Central Illinois. I was brought up by a wonderful, loving mother. She was a saint. And one hard working father. He was a wizardly man that could turn anything into something special if it were made of wood just as mom could with food. They taught us the value of hard work and how to take pride in anything that my siblings and I were doing. If we weren’t helping dad at the family construction business, we were usually at our cabin in the hills of the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. That is where my passion for wild scenery and adventure originated, right on the banks of Anderson Creek.

I remember running through the hills for most of the day, chasing anything that moved with whatever I had, always worrying mom when it’d get late. On rainy days or when it was too dark to be outside, I would spend my time looking at hunting magazines. Most kids may have grown up sneaking a peak of dad’s Playboys, but I knew where he kept the good stuff… stacked in a pile right next to the porcelain. I’m talking Peterson Bowhunter, North American Whitetail, Field and Stream among many others. Of course, partial to it if it had anything to do with the outdoors! Reading a little bit but mostly looking at the images. The photography alone in these publications was extremely captivating to me. Each page told a story, usually of epic adventures in the most unreal places this earth has to offer. The passion that has grown in me from looking at these photos, not only made me want to be in the woods every second, but it also inspired me to want to capture and celebrate anything + everything in the outdoors… all through the eye of a camera lens.
